Partnership Committee

The Partnership Committee promotes a partnership approach to implementing the Reef Water Quality Protection Plan 2013 (Reef Plan). It provides advice to the Intergovernmental Operational Committee on the operational implementation of Reef Plan.

 The committee’s role is to:

  • consider and provide advice to the Intergovernmental Operational Committee on Reef Plan actions, strategies and implementation plans developed by action managers
  • consider and provide advice to the Intergovernmental Operational Committee on reporting by action managers against implementation plans
  • consider and provide advice to the Intergovernmental Operational Committee on annual reports on Reef Plan implementation
  • propose to the Intergovernmental Operational Committee possible areas of work to continuously improve the implementation of Reef Plan
  • as requested by the Intergovernmental Operational Committee, provide advice on membership and terms of reference for working groups and other committees that may be established by the Intergovernmental Operational Committee
  • other tasks as requested by the Intergovernmental Operational Committee.

Independent Chair

Dr Wendy Craik has been appointed by the Great Barrier Reef Ministerial Forum as independent chair of the committee. Dr Craik reports to the Great Barrier Reef Ministerial Forum on the operation of the committee. This is a direct avenue for the stakeholders to provide their input to the Ministers.
